It's designed for home users, not enterprise, and Chromecast does not support WPA2-Enterprise.

If you have WPA2-Enterprise on your wireless network, Chromecast will not work.

This means you just have to ask yourself what your tolerance for performance degradation is, as you've already seen with your WiDi experience (cheap, but glitchy). Going for cheap solutions means you get cheap results.
